STI Testing

Syphilis cases are on the rise in Champaign County. You should be tested for syphilis at least every year.

Learn more about syphilis from the CDC

Congenital syphilis happens when syphilis is passed to a baby during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, you should be tested for syphilis at your first prenatal visit and then twice more during the pregnancy. Your doctor can do this testing for you.  Syphilis treatment can stop the spread and reduce the negative health effects that syphilis can have on your baby. If you are trying to get pregnant, you should test at least every year, so that you can receive treatment before you get pregnant.
