Champaign, IL - On Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 4:00pm guests at the Foellinger Auditorium will have the opportunity to see a live production of the hilarious stage play "What You Don't Know Can KILL You" - the college tour. "What You Don't Know Can KILL You" tells the stories of how the wrong choices of three different individuals affect their lives. Champaign, IL - April 2008 marks the annual observance of National Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Awareness Month. The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Celebrates National Public Health Week, "Climate Change: Our Health in the Balance" April 7 - 13.

Champaign, IL - April 7-13 is National Public Health Week. This year's theme is "Climate Change: Our Health in the Balance". Climate change may cause extreme weather events and changes in rainfall that increase the risk of death and disease. An increase in regional temperatures may also increase the spread of infectious disease through mosquito and tick-borne illnesses. Urbana School Representatives will Participate in Advocacy Day in Support of School Health Centers

Urbana, IL - On Wednesday, April 9, 2008, several school students from the Urbana School District along with their peers from across the state of Illinois will travel to the state capitol to support local school health centers. Students and Urbana School Health Center staff will meet at the capitol building to ask local representatives to support the return of school health center funding to the state budget. Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Launches Medical Reserve Corps to Help Prepare Champaign County for Times of Community Need.

Champaign, IL - The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) recently approved a Medical Reserve Corps Grant for the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) to produce a local Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) this upcoming April 2008. CUPHD is currently actively searching for volunteers as the MRC begins its growing stages. These volunteers include both medical and public health professionals (active or retired) such as physicians, nurses, dentists, epidemiologists, pharmacists, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics. Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Encourages Residents of Champaign County with Private Wells to Test Water Annually

Champaign, IL - In recognition of Ground Water Awareness Week, March 9 - 15, 2008, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) encourages residents of Champaign County with private wells to test their water annually for certain contaminants. Private water wells should be tested every year for evidence of coliform bacteria and nitrates, and should be tested more frequently if there are recurrent incidents of gastrointestinal illness or there are changes in taste, odor or appearance. Mar 7, 2008 Urbana School Health Center Offers School Physicals for Spring Break Exams Offered to 8th Graders
Eighth-grade students and parents can take care of the mandatory physical for ninth-grade this coming spring break. The Urbana School Health Center (USHC) is offering physicals for eighth-graders March 18, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., by appointment only. Doctors at the Health Center will also review the student's immunization record. The Health Center's dentist will also be on hand to provide dental exams.
