Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Partners with J.W. Eater Junior High to Educate Young Women on the Importance of Osteoporosis Prevention.

Champaign, IL - The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) has partnered with the J.W. Eater Junior High to educate teenage girls on the importance of Osteoporosis prevention. This 3-session educational program offered during PE class consists of a series of fun-filled activities that encourage the teens to take small steps to make a big difference in the health of their bones. Feb 2, 2009 Local Partnership to "Give Kids a Smile" by Offering FREE School Dental Exams for Illinois Children!
SmileHealthy, Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, and Illini District Dental Society to provide a FREE Oral Health Fair at Marketplace Mall.

Champaign, IL - On Saturday, February 7, 2009, SmileHealthy, Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD), and Illini District Dental Society will be providing FREE School Dental Exams by local volunteer dentists for Illinois school children at the Marketplace Mall in Champaign. These exams will be available from 10:00am - 4:00pm in the Marketplace Mall by Macy's.

The simple 5 minute exam will be available for all children ages 3-17. This exam can be used to satisfy the State of Illinois mandated exam, due by May 15, 2009, required for all children in grades Kindergarten, 2nd and 6th. Children identified with dental issues will be referred to SmileHealthy, the CUPHD Dental Division, other partnering agencies, or their personal dentist for appropriate treatment. Champaign-Urbana Public Health District to Provide TB Skin Testing for Interested Community Members

Champaign, IL - Due to the increased community concern generated by the recent isolation of a local CU resident with active Tuberculosis (TB), the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) will be providing a TB Skin Testing Clinic on Saturday, January 24 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at 201 West Kenyon Road. Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Encourages Citizens to Test Their Homes with Free Radon Test Kit

Champaign, IL - January is National Radon Action Month, and the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) encourages citizens to learn more about the radon threat and test their homes for the presence of radon. CUPHD has a limited number of FREE radon test kits available for residents of Champaign County. Test kits may be picked up at the Environmental Health Division of CUPHD located at 201 West Kenyon Road in Champaign from 8:00am - 4:00pm; Monday through Friday.
